Be restored

“Restore us to yourself, O lord, that we may be restored!  Renew our days as of old.”-Lamentations 5:21

The book of Lamentations describes the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 587 B.C.  The people had been continually warned to repent of sin and return to a right relationship with God, but they refused.  As any good father would do, discipline was in order.

Though today’s verse was written long ago it is applicable to us today.  To be restored means to be in a right relationship with God.  After all He is the only one that can do the restoring.  Without repentance and conversion there can be no restoration to to the “days of old.”  Spend some time in prayer this morning.  What sin are allowing to be in your life?  Confess it to God, be restored, and ask for his grace and mercy.  Ask for His help in overcoming it.  If you are not a Christian you also can be restored to a right relationship with God.  Believe in Jesus Christ, that he died on the cross for your sins, and rose from the dead on the third day.  Have a great day and be restored!
