Great stuff from a former professor at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
Healthy church can be reduced to how healthy is the body of Christ (Paul’s controlling metaphor for explaining how the church should operate- Rom. 12/ 1 Cor. 12/ Eph. 1 and 4 and Colossians 1).
From church history… every time and any time the church got serious about the development of the body/ laity… the church experienced revival. Therefore, revival/ health can be demystified:
- The individual members of the body getting connected to Christ (UP) through quiet time/ spiritual formation. Loving God
- The individual members of the body getting connected to each other (IN) in small groups and practicing the over 50 different “one another” injunctions. Loving One Another
- The individual members of the body connecting to the mission of Christ and becoming the hands and feet of Jesus in a community (OUT). Loving our neighbor.
Therefore groups… or “holy clubs” as Wesley called them or “cell groups” (Korean church)…
