Nothing You Have Done

“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.  The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”- 1 Timothy 1:13-14

Today’s verse is a great testament to the love and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ.  In his life before Christ, Paul describes himself as a blasphemer and a persecutor.  Yet he was forgiven of all these things through faith in Christ.  Not only that, but he became the greatest evangelist that ever lived.

We read in the book of Acts about how Paul did everything to keep Christianity from spreading.  He was even present at the stoning of the first Christian martyr, Stephen.  There are times where we look at all the things we have done and we want to come to Christ, but first we think we have to clean ourselves up first.  Do you think Paul was able to clean himself up after presiding over a murder?  It was Christ who cleaned him up and he can do the same for any of us.  Will you accept this free of gift of mercy and forgiveness that is only available through faith in Christ?
