Wash Me Clean

“Wash away my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”- Psalm 51:2

Psalm 51 is a chapter I try to read on a regular basis.  The prophet Nathan had just come to David and confronted him about a sin he had committed.  What was that sin?  He had committed adultery with Bathsheba.  She became pregnant and David sent her husband to the front line to be killed.  Not only did he commit adultery, but now he had committed murder.

We all have a sin in our life that we do not want others to know about.  Maybe it is adultery or something else.  The bottom line is that the Lord wants us to repent just like David did.  Repent means to turn away from something.  Let us make a commitment today to repent of the sin on our hearts, and ask the Lord to take away that iniquity through the finished work of Christ on the cross.  He loves us and is willing to forgive us if we ask him.  Will we swallow our pride to do just that?

  1. Thanks for sharing. Not only do we need to turn from our sin through repentance, but we also need to put on Christ-likeness. So for instance, if we are angry, we need to turn from that and put “on” the fruit of the spirit, which would be self-control.
