“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”- Galatians 2:20
When we become parents our whole lives change. We no longer live for ourselves, but our precious child becomes all encompassing. Everything we do is for their benefit, because we want what is best for them. Today’s verse shows the Apostle Paul describing the life of a Christian. Paul writes that since Christ is his savior he must now live according to faith in Christ.
His former sinful self, the person he was before faith in Christ, has “died”. He now looks to the Lord Jesus to direct his steps, and looks to him for strength to the impossible. As a Christian, are you doing the will of Christ or your own? Are you relying primarily on your strength, and Christ is secondary? Remember that Christ gave himself for you. To be a disciple means that we must die to our will and follow. Who are following today?
