Be Angry but don't Sin

“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger.”- Ephesians 4:26

A few years ago an movie called anger management was released.  The premise of the movie was that the main character had a lot of unresolved issues that he let fester.  He suppressed his emotions to his own detriment.  Today’s verse tells us that anger is ok, but it must not lead to sin.  We must not suppress it to a point where it becomes wrath.

Anger s a God given emotion, and it can often lead to positive action.  It was such a righteous anger that let to Paul writing the letter to the Galatians.  It was this anger that led our Lord to clear out the moneychangers that were in the temple.  The Apostle Paul and our Lord Jesus were angry, but they were still in control of their emotions.   When something angers us how do we respond?  Do we lash out a lose all sense of our Christian identity?  Here is my challenge to you today.  When you encounter something that angers you take a few moments to pray.  Then encounter it in calm manner and collected manner. We must get cooled off quickly and show control and restraint so that we respond in a Christlike manner.
