Known by its Fruit

“And if you call on Him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.”- 1 Peter 1:17

A couple years ago a book titled “Not a Fan” was published.  The basic premise of the book is that you are either a fan or a follower of Jesus.  There is no middle ground.  In Christianity today we have an epidemic of people that want the middle ground.  They identify themselves as Christians, but their lives do not reflect it.

Does this ring true in your own life?  There are many ways that the above scenario can be acted out, but how is it in your life?  What is holding you back from giving 100% to Christ? Whatever that it is has the potential of becoming an idol later on.  The fear that today’s verse speaks of is not one of terror, but of awe and reverence that should characterize the lives of Christians during their time on earth, or exile as Peter words it.  Jesus said in Luke 6:44 that every tree (i.e. believer) will be known by its fruit.  What fruit do people see from you?
