“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”- Ephesians 1:7
We have all done wrong to somebody at some point in our lives. We may have lied, stolen, or done something worse. We often find it difficult to forgive other individuals of the same actions towards us. We hold those circumstances over the head of that person as a constant reminder of their error. Today’s verse shows us that this is not what the Lord does. This is not what the Lord does. As believers we are redeemed through our faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross.
The redemption means to be ransomed from captivity. The ransom was high, and that was the blood of Jesus Christ. Through that ransom our slavery to sin, our debt was paid. Salvation is not a matter of human attainment, but of divine atonement. No matter what we have done in this life the riches of God’s grace abound because we our forgiven through our faith in Christ. Some say “There is no way I can be forgive for the things I’ve done.” Forgiveness is real, his grace is real, and his mercy is available to you today. Psalm 103:12 states, “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” Put your faith in Christ and receive the riches of his grace. Extend that forgiveness to others.
