A higher calling

But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.”-Matthew 5:44

We have all been hurt by somebody.  We all have somebody that speaks wrong of us no matter what we do.  We often react to things such as this with a spirit of revenge, and wanting to get back at the other person.  Jesus tells us to do something different, and it is radical, it is difficult, and it must be done.

We are not all called to be pastors or teachers, but we can partake in the ministry of Christ by loving all and keeping them in prayer.  It does not mean that we condone evil and sin, but that we love person and keep them in prayer.  By doing so we show them the love and mercy of Christ.  Are you holding on to a grudge?  It is time to sprinkle it with the blood of Jesus and show that person the mercy Christ has shown us.  We are called a holy calling.  Resolve today to live up to it.  With the help of Jesus we can.
