Help me to Pray

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pay for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”-Romans 8:26

Let’s be honest with ourselves.  Many of us find it difficult to pray.  We are not sure what to say, or we convince ourselves that we don’t have the time.  There is only one thing that the disciples asked Jesus to help them with.  They asked Jesus to teach them how to pray.  Prayer is an open phone line of sorts with our creator.  It is imperative for our spiritual lives that these phone lines be kept operational.

Today’s verse tells us that even if we can’t think of the words, that the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf.  How comforting to know that the Lord knows our innermost thought, and feelings in such a way!  Prayer is not something to be feared, but cherished.  Resolve today to set aside a set time each day for prayer.  Whether it be five, ten, or fifteen minutes.  It doesn’t matter because some time is better than none.  Speak to the Lord about your innermost thoughts feelings, and the needs of others.  Be assured that even if you can’t think of the words, but are in a spirit of worship, that they will be heard.
