“He has told you O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”-Micah 6:8
There is an old phrase that says “The proof is in the pudding.” Here the prophet Micah is telling his listeners that the Lord does not wish to have more conformity, though that is good, but he wants our internal reality to be altered. To do justice is to deal in a righteous way with those around us, to love kindness is to have that internal commitment to God that will show itself in a correct relationship with God and man, and to walk humbly with God is to have a proper attitude toward God and to continuously walk with Him.
Are you just going through the motions? Maybe you are doing some things such as going to church, prayer, and Bible reading because you feel you are obligated to and not because you want to. Resolve today to spend some time alone with the Lord in prayer and examine your heart. Ask Him if your heart is in the right place. A right relationship with God is the foundation, and from it everything else will flow.
