Be Refreshed

“Repent, the, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”-Acts 3:19

The very first word of this word is very powerful.  Repent!  Repent is the deliberate turning away from sin and turning to God. Be honest.   We all have something that we can repent from.  For myself, it is falling into the trap of relying on myself instead of trusting God.  For someone else it may be lying, anger, or a host of many other things.  We buy into the lies of the enemy, and get stuck in the destructive behavior that sin brings.

So what are you and I to do?  Again the answer lies in the first word of this verse.  Repent!  We must confess those sins and lay them at the foot of the cross.  Ask for the strength to overcome the sin in our lives, and in the case of some sin we need to humble ourselves and ask for the outside help we need.  We need to repent so we can stop living for ourselves, and live for God.  This is the only way we will be refreshed in this life.  Resolve today to examine your heart and see if there is some lingering sin that is hindering your relationship with God.  If there is confess, repent, and be refreshed.
